Tansley Woods Veterinary Hospital was established in 1997 to provide veterinary care for pets in the Tansley Woods neighbourhood and surrounding Burlington area.

We are are a full service facility where our number one priority is the well being of our patients. Because of that priority, we are committed to excellence in veterinary medicine and surgery. We will also strive to make your visit a pleasant one by keeping waiting times to a minimum, providing a warm, friendly atmosphere and a commitment to a clean and tidy hospital.

Getting Started

Our relationship with your pet typically begins as a puppy or kitten.  We strive to educate you as an owner and provide you with the information and tools you will need to create a long lasting and healthy relationship with your pet.  This will include nutrition counselling, behaviour training, parasite prevention and the appropriate vaccination schedule.

Physical Exams

Yearly physical exams are perhaps the most important thing you can do for your pet.  The physical exam, along with any history we have on a patient, can help detect health problems before they become serious.  We will examine all major body systems each time your pet comes in for a yearly physical.

Dental Disease

Dental disease is extremely common in pets, with about 80% of dogs and cats having some form of gum disease by the time they are 3 years old.  Just as in people, dental disease can lead to tooth loss and damage to the heart, liver and kidneys. Routine checkups, preventive care at home and dental cleanings will aid the the prevention of significant disease.  With healthy teeth, your pet will live a longer, happier life!

The Golden Years

By the age of seven, many dogs and cats may show some form of the following signs related to aging: sleeping more, increased water intake and urinating, weight changes, bad breath and loss of hearing or vision.  A physical exam every six months is recommended because pets age much faster than we do.  Many tests are available for the early diagnosis of geriatric health concerns.

Most of our clients and patients have come to us through referrals by existing clients.  We are very thankful to our clients who feel confident enough to entrust family and friends’ pets to our care. Prescriptions are generally filled here in the office for your convenience and to speed up the treatment process for your pet.  All medications need to be authorized by one of our veterinarians.  This is a safeguard against incorrect medications or dosages. Please phone 24 hours in advance of any repeat medications so that we can have them ready and you don’t have to wait.  There will be times when a medication needs to be changed in the middle of treatment, or further bloodwork is required before refilling an ongoing prescription.  Unfortunately, we are not able to accept the unused medications (as is the policy of human pharmacies).  We can dispose of the unused portion for your convenience.


Payment is due when services are rendered. We accept cash, debit, Visa and Mastercard.
